WItchy Woman

AGGY ASSEYMETRICAL SPLIT DRESS

I've heard quite a few times lately that I remind someone of Stevie Nicks.
I never intended to emulate her, but since the comparison's arisen I've been exploiting the inspiring icon's similarity to my heart's content- only because of the recent cold weather however.. My Stevie side mostly comes out in cold weather. Almost all of my layering clothing happens to be black and when the sun isn't shining and it becomes cold and bundle up time, black is the only thing in my closet that beckons me. I used to feel guilty about wearing all black. I felt some sort of obligation to all the colors of the rainbow.. but lately I've been psychedelically colorful whenever the sun decides to expose it's soul-brightening visage, so guilt need not appear when I daringly delve into the dark, dangerous, depths of the depth-deceptive dye . . .

Hair clip made with feathers and gems

I bought a lot of really fun materials at Joann's last night like feathers, gems, lace, clips, barrettes and more. I've been wanting to make my hair more nest-like with random items just living in it, for a couple months now...this project is a great pathway to achieving that dream.

I also went thrift store shopping with my wonderful friend Mie and got some incredible pieces! This little skirt set is one of my favorites..so lightweight and comfortable..

As i was searching the aisles of Joann's to find things to attach to my barrettes i came across this hair piece. Part of a valentine's costume i think.. so amazing.

I got this amazing harem jumper the other day and I am so in love!
One of my close friends just spent a semester abroad and has one of these except its a deep royal purple..every time she wears it I throw a fit about how much i want one and one finally crossed my path! I got it in the Lower East Side at some store along 1st ave..I can't wait to go back, they have such great stuff.

Right now I'm in BWI airport on a lay over on my way back to LA la land.
I'm actually really kinda sad to leave NY.. I was just starting to sink my teeth into it..again.. but off to another fabulous school year. 3rd year let's do it!

Keep smiling

Heart Attack, Best Believe

Le Chateau polka dot jumpsuit from Park Slope flea market for 2 dollars, F21 strappy shoes

I'm back! Sorry for the extended vacation. I went on a week long meditation retreat that I go on every year at Insight Meditation Society in Barre, MA. It was just as insightful and wonderful (though hard) as usual, but I'm glad to be back and post these pictures I took before I left.

How amazing is this jumpsuit? Not only was it two bucks, but it also fit's me without any hem adjustments and since I'm, 4'11" that's kind of a big deal.

Thanks for all of your comments and love.

Stay happy!

A Family Affair

Yesterday my Mom came to town and my sister and I spent the day with her! All of us being in the same place at the same time is a very rare occasion these days, so we were all really thankful for the quality time. We went to brunch at AOC Bistro in Park Slope first..
Mom wearing Micheal Kors bag, tunic and turquoise & tiger's eye bracelet from Williamsburg street fair, Fendi shades

My sister, Sakira's wearing a Balenciaga moto bag, consignment shop shoes and Abercrombie and Fitch shorts

Manicures and pedicures!

I love these boots! I've wanted a pair for a while now, but seeing them on her all day is tipping me over the edge..
Zara shorts, Jessica Simpson sandals

After we got mani pedis we went to Brooklyn Charm in Williamsburg- by far the coolest place I've been to in a WHILE. We all made our own charm necklaces that have really significant meanings to us. It makes wearing jewelry so much more personal and meaningful. I think I'm going to start to look for the deep, personal parts of my apparel expression from now on and not focus on the the aesthetic appeal as much..but that's a train on a different track..

They also had a lot of pre made jewelry that was adorable and spectacular

Mom bought this one

Sakira and I designed the following necklaces
Charms on Sakira's necklace from left- anchor, pink flower, heart shaped key, crystal, rectangular whistle, chanis and skull
Charms on my necklace from left (some aren't visible in this picture)- spur, heart, crystal, rectangular whistle (functional!), wings, S heart, skull, draping chains

We had a really great day.. I hope you had a wonderful Sunday too!
