scream and SHOUT

I've been on a creating rampage lately.. i love when these random, uncontrollable urges to clean and create come over me in such a way that i don't even realize i'm in them until i'm cleaning up hours later due to back pains. its just nature. besides this jewelry organizer (that is far from complete) i have also made more glorious head pieces! gosh, i must post those pictures soon.

the best pieces come from real need. desire.

Hair clip made with feathers

Barrette i made with jinglely bells

Barrette made with lace, gems and feathers

Hair clip made with feathers and gems

I bought a lot of really fun materials at Joann's last night like feathers, gems, lace, clips, barrettes and more. I've been wanting to make my hair more nest-like with random items just living in it, for a couple months now...this project is a great pathway to achieving that dream.

I also went thrift store shopping with my wonderful friend Mie and got some incredible pieces! This little skirt set is one of my favorites..so lightweight and comfortable..

As i was searching the aisles of Joann's to find things to attach to my barrettes i came across this hair piece. Part of a valentine's costume i think.. so amazing.

A Family Affair

Yesterday my Mom came to town and my sister and I spent the day with her! All of us being in the same place at the same time is a very rare occasion these days, so we were all really thankful for the quality time. We went to brunch at AOC Bistro in Park Slope first..
Mom wearing Micheal Kors bag, tunic and turquoise & tiger's eye bracelet from Williamsburg street fair, Fendi shades

My sister, Sakira's wearing a Balenciaga moto bag, consignment shop shoes and Abercrombie and Fitch shorts

Manicures and pedicures!

I love these boots! I've wanted a pair for a while now, but seeing them on her all day is tipping me over the edge..
Zara shorts, Jessica Simpson sandals

After we got mani pedis we went to Brooklyn Charm in Williamsburg- by far the coolest place I've been to in a WHILE. We all made our own charm necklaces that have really significant meanings to us. It makes wearing jewelry so much more personal and meaningful. I think I'm going to start to look for the deep, personal parts of my apparel expression from now on and not focus on the the aesthetic appeal as much..but that's a train on a different track..

They also had a lot of pre made jewelry that was adorable and spectacular

Mom bought this one

Sakira and I designed the following necklaces
Charms on Sakira's necklace from left- anchor, pink flower, heart shaped key, crystal, rectangular whistle, chanis and skull
Charms on my necklace from left (some aren't visible in this picture)- spur, heart, crystal, rectangular whistle (functional!), wings, S heart, skull, draping chains

We had a really great day.. I hope you had a wonderful Sunday too!

Smiling Faces

Went to my dad's office in Alphabet City yesterday to help out on some projects..

Patricia Field turban, thrifted Eddie Bauer top, random pair of $6 faux tortoise shell glasses
vintage keyring I found in my dad's office. i attached it to a chain and now it's a necklace
I really love this turban! It's so versitile and cleans/ fancies up any outfit. It makes me feel regal and Baba-esque. The material of this top is so light and floaty, but i cut the shoulders a bit too wide. I have an idea though and can't wait to try it out!

I thought the mail lady looked really cute and fashionable in the rain. It was so sticky and gross and she was so sweet and cheerful to talk to.

Have a wonderful day!

They be Stressin'

After seeing Frassy's post a few days back, i got inspired and wanted to make a top out of a scarf too. Sadly, my breasticles are much smaller and can't hold a scarf in place, but i came up with some other fun combinations.

Stay happy!

Left a Good Job in the City

This outfit embodies another favorite look of mine - mixing soft feminine pieces with strong punky accessories.

This was a little boy's jean jacket I got at a thrift store. I studded it up with some english studs from Studs and Spikes and sewed these airplane patches on the back.

Thrifed and modified slip dress, thrifted and modified spike jacket, Urban Outfitters earrings also modified by me and Aldo shoes
.

I shot these practically a year ago and then school started again and I got unbelievably busy.. so here they are. Hopefully in the coming school year I'll be able to find time to keep up with this blog because-

a. I love it
2. It's fun
III. It's not that hard!

Stay cool,

S
