Another fun outfit with one of my new tanks.. Though you cant see it in these pics, this top and the top in the last post are quite different in terms of color in person. The previous top is a washed out mauve-lavender-gray color and this one is a vibrant white with a soft light blue tint. I love Brandy Melville colors! Gosh. I'm so not getting paid to do PR for them, I swear.. they just make amazing tanks.

I'm cleaning my apt today for the first time in a long time. I never had time to fully move in, and doing that feels so good. I already feel clearer, happier and more settled.

Right now I'm reading Patti Smith's Just Kids and while I don't think I've morphed into the Godmother of Punk, my style as slipped into menswear chic a bit. I've been on the hunt for baggy jeans..

I discovered this store the other day and I bought it out practically. I got 6 different soft cotton tanks with slightly different details or muted tones (off white, cream, pale mauve, army green) and 2 not of cotton, but simple, casual chic.

I absolutely adore this outfit. Most comfortable thing in the world. And I feel like as dumpster-y as it is, it's kinda chic too... homeless chic maybe?

These pants got me thinking that I need a pair of proper drop crotch pants. These are wonderful, but they're made of linen and are kinda see through when worn as a onesie.  Proper drop crotch pants will be a perfect addition to my wardrobe. Those and a pair of baggy jeans. Fitted jeans don't look as good on me as I wish they would, so I'll have to travel down different avenues..

I wish I had remembered to take pictures every time I left the house this week. This has gotten so pretty and 'hip' that it's not even touching the ugly pretty theme from which is derived. I had some great ugly combos this week. Some so ugly i even questioned myself as I found myself on the street in these hideous combinations.. This however, is just an ugly skirt, a cut up rag of a shirt and some shoes that were cheap but now everyone's wearing.

I've been really into ugly fashion lately. I love it. I love finding ugly clothing in ugly colors and putting them all on in a messed up ugly way to create odd ugly beauty. 

I was in Santa Monica yesterday and dudes macked on me.. wtf!! I was so shocked? Is it that LA is just such a hip town that even the guys on the street are up on their fashion game? I thought i looked so ugly.lol. I love clothing because its such a costume and i can act and feel however it makes me feel. I get to play a new role every day.

I ADORE these shoes btw..So chunky and funny.

Though I shout "HELLOOOO" I really don't think I have any consistent followers to talk to, but I'd rather send my words out in space to something or someone rather than just use this as a my personal style history book. So HELLLOOOO out there! I hope you enjoy roaming the interspace and stumbling upon whatever crosses your path. Isn't the internet amazing?

I  found this wonderful dress and goodwill the other day. I just saw the cut and cool print and grabbed it, but then when I tried it on i realized it had a million adorable elephants all over it! I have never been particularly drawn to elephants like some women I know are, but once I met these women who truly have a place in their hearts for this amazing animal I started to feel differently not only about elephants but about the women who adored them. Elephants and their women now have a special place in my heart. I also adore the cut of this dress. Spaghetti straps, super loose and flowly, material feels transparent but doesn't look it. It's the perfect kick around dress. It even came with a few gaping holes. Whoever owned it really loved it. 

I wore this last night to hang out with a few girls from my class. How nice. I'm adding this picture because I was proud of my make up job. This lip gloss is from my FAVORITE lip gloss combo from MAC. All the colors blend with my coloring so well.

My friend Mary gave me this beautiful necklace from Afghanistan. I've admired indigenous jewelry for a while, but have never bought any because I think the commercialization of "tribal" as a vacant fashion statement is rather gross.

This, however, is not helpless imitation, and I adore it.

My best outfits are born out of waking up late
Yes I still tried a couple things on before walking out the door, but as soon as I found a combination I liked I just ran with it. Quick accessorizing, no time to get self conscious about my ass hanging out the back and done. And I'm so glad I was stuck with this outfit all day. While the length of the shorts was slightly annoying because i DON'T think it's cute to see the bottom of ANYONES ass outside the beach, a porno or a rap video, the whole concept just made me so happy and leaves me feeling inspired.

It's so funny, whenever I attempt to emulate an icon I love, it never works.. I mean, no matter what I look off the chain, but an outfit only fully resonates with me when I meld it with my own vibe ( in this case, hi waisted booty shorts and sparkly wedges).

This outfit reminded me of Janis Joplin throughout the day and I kept seeing her wearing boas as hair extensions and huge round frames wailing on the stage, being the bad ass bitch that she was.
She's such an inspiration, but I would never walk around rockin' exactly what she did, because that's not me. And that's what I love about style, especially today. It's just a big collage that jumps across time. A persons outfit is a constellation, a map, that can trace back to so many places simultaneously. And that same type of constellation creates how you and I stand today- our personalities, ideas, creativity, how we live our lives.

We are just a walking constellation of everything that came before and that's to come.

What a great birthday weekend. Might have lost my ID at the Abbey in the midst of gay pride madness, but I had a wonderful weekend with wonderful, beautiful people.
