Oh My Mikimoto

Mikimoto makes the most marvelous, magical pearls we've ever seen.

"I die."

Mary and I have been uttering this two syllable saying all day every time we see another jaw-dropping piece of sheer beauty that the Mikimoto website feeds us. Unfortunately, they don't let you take the gorgeous images of their jewelery off of their website, so you'll have to browse it yourselves..but in the mean time feast your eyes on the above.

Pearls remind me of Sara Murphy, an American expatriate from the 1920s. Sara and her husband, Gerald, were know for hosting lavish parties frequented by guests such as Picasso, Fitzgerald, Hemingway, and other famous artists, writers, and thinkers. Calvin Tomkin's biography of the iconic couple, Living Well is the Best Revenge, is a fabulous summer read. I highly recommend it. The book highlights Sara Murphy's irresistible charm, eternally feminine grace, and unique, bold fashion sense. Sara was famous for "sunning" her pearls by wearing them backwards on the French Riviera.

Summer is perfect for daydreaming, lusting, and being hypnotized by pretty pretty things and pretty ways of life. Dinner parties, wine, beaches, villas, friends, lovers, summmmmer. Trying to soak it all in before it's over.
So go sun your pearls!
